Bogiaisso [Bo-gia-ìsso] in Chioggia dialect means 'vortex, the point where water bubbles up'.
Since 2022, during the fishing moratorium, Bogiaisso has been a moment to look in the mirror and discover ourselves reflected in sensibilities, lands and waters both near and far, thanks to a selection of video works in profound dialogue with local life experience.
New in 2026
The fifth edition of Bogiaisso revisits the international video works most appreciated in previous editions, alongside others never before screened in Chioggia, across three evenings of free projections in the newly recovered courtyard of the Monastery of Santa Caterina.
Two original productions this year, developed through weeks of artistic residency in Chioggia and in collaboration with the fishing community: a guided movement practice on 25 August from 5pm with choreographer Valerie Tameu, and a walk with artist Ginevra Collini hunting for ghost traditions on 26 August from 9pm (with tastings for those who arrive on time!).
The 2026 selection of works is curated by the scientific committee, which each year helps generate meaningful points of connection between Chioggia's reality and other water-bound, manual-labour-intensive communities around the world. Directed by Niccolò Moronato, this year it involves Cairo Clarke, Camilla Zennaro, Zöe De Luca Legge, Ilaria Conti, Giulia Menegale, Orsola Vannocci Bonsi and Lele Buonerba.
